DART

Online LEGAL Self-Help Center

DART provides full-service assistance to individuals needing to file for protective orders (Title 46:2138). Upon request, DART will provide court accompaniment and support during interviews with law enforcement and judicial agencies for victims/witnesses of domestic violence crimes (Title 46:1844 C, (2)). DART also provides education to those individuals needing to understand their legal rights and options, offers guidance through the legal process, and provides resources that may aid you in obtaining legal representation.  Please call the DART office in your parish for assistance and/or for more information.

In an effort to further assist victims/survivors of domestic and dating violence who are in need of legal access to justice, DART has inserted this new web tool to aid you.  This web link only provides legal information to self-represented litigants in legal matters such as filing for a divorce and/or child custody. DART DOES NOT provide legal advice about your specific case.  DART always recommends that you seek professional representation if possible.

If you are a self-representing litigant, this website can assist you by outlining relevant laws, procedures, and resources. For certain issues, forms are available that you can fill out on a computer, print, and then file with the appropriate Clerk of Court Office. This service in no way constitutes legal representation and is brought to you as a courtesy through the combined efforts of DART and Jock Scott Community Partnership Panel Grant of the Louisiana Bar Foundation (Legal Desert Project). It may be useful to review the resources below to get more information on how to file legal forms, find an attorney, and represent yourself in court.
